The Daly City Police Department is currently commanded by Acting Chief of Police, Cameron Christensen.
Career
Acting Chief Cameron Christensen started his Daly City career as a Patrol Officer in 2004, where he served as a Use of Force and Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Detective, and SWAT Team Member. In 2007, Cameron was promoted to Sergeant and was responsible for the direct supervision of Patrol Teams, the Traffic Unit, the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force (SMCNTF), and was the SWAT Team Leader. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2013 and was assigned as a Patrol Watch Commander overseeing department operations, Patrol Officers and Sergeants assigned to his division. Cameron also became the Daly City SWAT Commander. In 2015, he was assigned as the Technical Services Lieutenant, which oversees all logistical aspects of the organization outside of Patrol Operations. In 2018, Cameron was promoted to Captain, where he was assigned to the Field Operations Bureau, which included all Patrol Operations, the Traffic Unit, and SWAT. In late 2020, he was reassigned to the Support Services Bureau. On January 17, 2022, Cameron was assigned Acting Chief of Police.
Education
Acting Chief Christensen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the Union Institute and University and a Master's degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from the American Military University.
