Rachel Goodman

I’m Rachel. One of the newer members of the Library Board of Trustees. Im a lover of libraries from the local to Los Angeles and everywhere in between. I love going to other cities and visiting their libraries. The architecture, the stories that live there, and of course their library cards. I might just be a collector of library cards. If you need some good recs, you can find my ratings and reviews on Goodreads. I was also a writer for the music blog Riff Magazine and go see far too many concerts. I saw close to 300 shows in one year when I lived in NYC. You do the math! And the New York Public Library (the midtown branch) is even better than it looks in Ghostbusters. I’m also a film fanatic (awesome alliteration) and can probably be found in a dark theater watching the latest independent and/or foreign film. Im a film screener for the SF Film Festival and the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. I like to tell people that Neil Gaiman changed my life. If you haven’t yet read Neverwhere, go check it out at your local library. Psst: I check out most movies from the libraries!

A few other random facts: I’m from the Bay Area, graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Latin American & Iberian Studies. I love the oxford comma unapologetically. I lived on the East Coast for 11 years (Northern Virginia), Manhattan (Hells Kitchen), and Queens (Astoria). I’m a member of Daly City’s Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Lastly, I’m a volunteer for SF’s Project Homeless Connect and the Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco’s Legal Advice and Referral Clinic. Yet, somehow, I still manage to hold down a full-time job as a Contracts Manager!
