Thomas James Anderson retired from the Daly City
Police Department on April 17, 2009, following
thirty-two years of dedicated service. He attended
the Basic Police Academy at Santa Rosa Community
College and graduated on January 27, 1978. He
was appointed as a Police Officer for the City
of Daly City on October 17, 1977.
Thom excelled as a Patrol Officer for six years
before becoming a Station Supervisor from November,
1983 and March, 1984. In March, 1984, he was assigned
as the Police Lab and Evidence Technician. He
served the department in this assignment until
his retirement.
Thom received five Departmental Commendations,
including a commendation in March, 1983 for an
armed robbery where he made felony traffic stop
on the suspect vehicle on Highway 280. He apprehended
the suspect and recovered the firearm from the
suspect’s vehicle. He was commended for
his observation skills and conducting a detailed
investigation.
Thom received a total of fifty-one Daly City
Police Department Unit Commendations, outside
agency appreciation letters, and letters of praise
from the public for his extensive and thorough
crime scene investigations. Eleven letters of
appreciation came from the community for his professionalism,
knowledge of the law, and compassion. He will
be recognized for his technical proficiency in
police photography, fingerprint analysis, and
the collection of complex evidence.
