INCLUSIONARY
HOUSING
Daly
City Inclusionary Housing Ordinance
Inclusionary
housing policies have been around in California for about
30 years. In that time over 100 jurisdictions have created
programs resulting in over 34,000 affordable homes and
apartments.
Inclusionary
housing policies require developers of new housing to
make a certain percentage of new units affordable to low
or moderate income residents. Increasingly, these programs
provide a significant share of new affordable housing
development throughout the state.
The
City has adopted a goal to encourage the development of
housing that is affordable to both renters and owners
and for families of all income levels. The inclusionary
housing policy is one of several tools the City can use
to encourage and expand affordable housing opportunities
in our community.
On September 10, 2007, Daly City's City Council approved
an inclusionary housing ordinance. The ordinance applies
to all areas of the City except for redevelopment project
areas which already have inclusionary housing requirement.
