The
City seeks to increase and maintain the supply of
decent, safe, sanitary and affordable rental and ownership
housing that preserves or improves the quality of
its neighborhoods and supports economic opportunity
and growth. Through a variety of funding sources include
the Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment
Partnerships (HOME) Programs, as well as Housing
Set-Aside Funds from the Daly City Redevelopment Agency,
the City undertakes a comprehensive range of affordable
housing activities. |

Rehabilitiation Programs |
|
The
City’s Residential Rehabilitation
Program offers grants and low interest loans to
eligible low income homeowners and rental property
owners, whose units are occupied by 51% or more low
income renters, for a variety of minor home improvements.
In addition, the City partners with several nonprofits
who provide low income homeowners with free home repairs
and improvements.

Time Homebuyer Assistance |
|
The
City has a First Time Homebuyer Education Program
that emphasizes education and direct one-on-one counseling
for households new to the home buying process. There
are also a number of local, regional, State and other
financing assistance programs available to first time
homebuyers. |

| Finding
Affordable Rental Housing |
|
The
City does not own or manage rental housing and cannot
directly place people in rental housing units. However,
anyone interested in finding affordable rental housing
in Daly City can view the most current version of
the San
Mateo County Assisted Rental/Owner Housing for Low/Moderate
Income Households for affordable rental buildings
in both the City and throughout the County. Please
feel free to call any places of interest from this
list to inquire about unit or waiting list availability.
Daly City has played key roles in assisting nonprofit
and for-profit developers build affordable housing
in the City. The City has served as a financing source,
bond issuer and/or monitoring entity for past and
current (See "Residential
Affordable Housing") projects.
The nonprofit, Human
Investment Project (HIP), offers an innovative
alternative to affordable rental housing through its
Shared Housing Program. This program, which receives
City CDBG funding, helps match homeowners with rooms
for rent and renters in need of housing. For more

Housing Resources |
|
Individuals
and families who are homeless, or at-risk of becoming
homeless, should contact the
Daly City Community Service Center at 650-991-8007.
The Community Service Center is located at 350 – 90th
Street in Daly City.
The Community Service Center is one of the seven core
community services agencies in San Mateo County and
has information regarding emergency food, shelter,
and other services (e.g. health services) to assist
people in crisis. Several of the City’s CDBG-funded
public services
also give vital assistance to individuals and families
with urgent needs. |
