Assembly Member Leland Yee
Dear
Representatives of Daly City Voters;
As
a resident of Daly City, I want to join with other
citizens of my community to urge you to oppose the
further taking of local tax dollars from us.
I
have become aware that services I expect and value,
such as repair and maintenance of residential streets,
the cleaning and landscaping of local parks, the opportunity
to participate in recreation programs, the availability
of library services, and the protection of police
and fire services are at risk of being significantly
reduced because of the continued taking of local revenues
by the State of California.
Daly
City has lost in excess of $40 million since 1981
to pay for State programs. These were funds generated
from local tax dollars that should have been spent
for local services.
Our
City government balances its budget each and every
year, and lives within its means. I urge the State
of California to begin to do the same, and to end
the practice of robbing us of funds that were meant
to pay for important local services that are not provided
for by the State of California.
I
intend to hold you and your fellow legislators accountable
for the closing of facilities and cuts to services
that my family and I value. Please be part of an important
change needed in Sacramento, and work to find solutions
to fund State programs without taking funds from revenues
designated for city services.
Sincerely,
(Your
name and address)
