DALY
CITY FIRE FIGHTERS “FILL THE BOOT” FOR MDA
Daly
City, CA, February 3, 2006 – In observance
of the life-long partnership between the International
Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), Daly City
fire fighters will conduct their annual Fill-the-Boot
drive on Saturday, February 18th, to benefit
MDA.
Proceeds raised during the street side campaign
will help support MDA services and research
programs, including MDA’s clinics for people
with neuromuscular diseases at California Pacific
Medical Center and UCSF Children’s Hospital.
Donations will also help MDA purchase and repair
wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices
as well as send local children to MDA Summer
Camp.
Members of the Daly City Fire Department will
be at the intersection of Gellert Blvd. and
Serramonte Blvd., in Daly City, from 9am to
2pm asking motorists to drop donations into
fire fighter boots. Fill-the-Boot campaigns
are among the primary ways in which fire fighters
across the country have raised over $200 million
since 1954 to help in MDA’s fight against neuromuscular
diseases.
The
commitment of fire fighters to the cause of
MDA has further elevated their status as extraordinary
professionals who not only put their lives on
the line to protect citizens and property, but
also give their time to save the lives of those
affected by neuromuscular diseases.
Look

18th, at the intersection of Gellert and Serramonte,
