PROPOSED WAR MEMORIAL MONUMENTS
DISPLAY IN CITY HALL ROTUNDA
|
 |
Daly
City - The City Council of Daly City invites
the public to provide comments on the proposed
design of a monument, which will honor Daly
City residents who have served the United States
in a branch of military service, and recognizes
the ultimate sacrifice made in time of war.
The monument will be placed at the entrance
of the new War Memorial Community Center &
Library building currently under construction
on Mission Street near the Top of the Hill.
The proposed new monument will expand upon the
tributes previously displayed at the original
War Memorial Building and provides an appropriate
memorial for citizens who have served their
country for the cause of freedom.
A
model of the proposed design of the monument
is currently on display in the Daly City Civic
Center Rotunda (next to the Police Department),
located at 333- 90th Street in Daly City. The
display will be available for review until December
15, 2005. The City Council welcomes comments
from citizens on the proposed design, which
may be submitted by completing the comment cards
available at the display location.
The
new War Memorial Community Center & Library
is a $10.5 million facility to serve the community,
and will consist of two gymnasiums, multi-purpose
rooms, and a library to replace the existing
John Daly Library. The building is expected
to be open to the public in Summer 2006.
