Daly City - Doelger
Senior Center and Daly City Parks and Recreation
Senior Services will commemorate its 25th anniversary
beginning September 16, continuing through October
2, 2005. A variety of events will celebrate
the accomplishments and special milestones of
the past 25 years.
The
two-week celebration will commence on September
16 with a Silver Jubilee reception at Café
Doelger and following, a dinner dance at the
Olympic Club sponsored by the Supporters of
Doelger Seniors, Inc. and the City of Daly City.
This event will be a gathering of Daly City
community and civic leaders, senior center members,
senior services staff, and supporting professionals
and businesses, many of whom have watched Daly
City Senior Services and Doelger Senior Center
flower from its inception in 1980 to a recognized
organization bringing recreational, educational,
and social service programs to diverse senior
communities throughout Daly City. The event
will honor Edward M. King, Alfred O. Belotz,
and William G. Crocker - the founding members
of the Supporters of Doelger Senior Center,
Inc. board of directors.
The
evening will begin with a cocktail reception
at the Doelger Senior Center from 5:15 p.m.
until 6:30 p.m. After mingling over an array
of hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Doelger Senior
Café volunteers, the Jubilee guests will
be shuttled to the Olympic Club via limousine.
There they will enjoy a delicious three-course
meal and dance the night away.
Another
highlight of the evening will be a live auction.
The auction will feature items ranging from
an Olympic Club golf foursome to a dinner for
eight at a Daly City Fire Station.
During
the two weeks following the Jubilee, the celebration
will continue at the Daly City Senior Services
with numerous activities and festivities. Many
of the activities and events will celebrate
the multicultururalism and progression of Daly
City Senior Services.
The
two-week celebration will end with the annual
community–wide Fall Festival and Pancake Breakfast
on October 2, 2005, at Doelger Senior Center
hosted by The Supporters of Doelger Senior Center,
Inc. and the City of Daly City. The Center will
be decked out in silver, with live music and
dancing throughout the day, class demonstrations,
a raffle, a silver fashion show, poetry readings,
as well as food and arts & craft booths.
“This
year marks a tremendous milestone for Daly City
Senior Services and Doelger Senior Center,”
said Mayor Carol L. Klatt. “We hope people will
come and experience the achievements of Daly
City Senior Services and Doelger Senior Center,”
she added.
