Daly
City – A dedication ceremony to formally
open the City’s newest fire station is scheduled
for 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2004. The
event will be held at Daly City Fire Station
92, located at 18 Bepler Street, just west of
Mission Street near the heart of the City’s
“Top of the Hill” district. Station 92 is home
to the Daly City Fire Department’s Paramedic
Engine Company 92 and Battalion 20. The new
station replaces the former Station 92, an aging
firehouse that served Daly City for more than
65 years.
The new fire station is a 7,600 square foot,
two-story structure built to accommodate the
crew and equipment of Engine Company 92, including
living quarters that feature a commercial-style
kitchen, dining room, lounge area, and exercise
room. Although the state-of-the-art station
is equipped with the latest technological innovations,
it is also outfitted with a traditional brass
fire pole that provides fast access from the
second floor to the apparatus bay. The dedication
ceremony will mark the official opening of the
station that has been under construction for
the past year and a half at a cost of $1.8 million.
Fire Station 92 is the busiest of Daly City’s
five fire stations, handling an average volume
of more than 2,000 emergency calls for service
each year. Paramedic Engine Company 92 responds
to approximately 30% of all fire emergency calls
in the City. Most of the 9-1-1 calls dispatched
to Station 92 involve medical emergencies.
Daly City’s City Council members are expected
to join Fire Chief Ron Myers at the dedication
ceremony. Personnel from the Daly City Fire
Department will lead tours of the station following
the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
