Daly
City – Dedication ceremony for the North
San Mateo County Sanitation District’s newly-constructed
$7.36 million, tertiary recycled water facilities
will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October
26th at 153 Lake Merced Boulevard in Daly City.
City officials and project partners for the historic
multi-agency collaboration will be in attendance
to tour the plant which is designed to produce
2.77 million gallons per day (mgd).
In
April 2002, the District, a subsidiary of the
City of Daly City, along with the San Francisco
Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), executed
a landmark 50-year recycled water use agreement
with the Olympic Club, Lake Merced Golf Club,
and San Francisco Golf Club. Recycled water
will also be provided to the athletic fields
at Westlake and Marchbank Parks, along with
the landscape median irrigation on John Daly
Boulevard from Highway I-280 to Highway 35.
Delivery of irrigation water from the tertiary
facilities to the Olympic Club began August
5th of this year.
Construction of the tertiary recycled facilities
started on February 3, 2003, by Anderson Pacific
Engineering Construction of Santa Clara, California.
The project was engineered and designed by Carollo
Engineers of Walnut Creek, California. The plant
will include the use of six Parkson DynaSand
Filters and injection of high purity gypsum
through a patent-pending application provided
by Wastewater Solutions, Inc. of St. George,
Utah.
The total project cost is $7.36 million, with
funding provided by a $4,450,128 loan and a
$1,426,912 grant from the California State Water
Resources Control Board, a $1 million contribution
from the SFPUC, and the remaining balance from
the District.
