City – Craving for an all-American
breakfast with all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage,
scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee – for
only $2.50? Then swing by Westlake Park this Sunday
morning, October 3rd. This event, which first
began in 1981 to mark the one year anniversary
of the senior center, will be held where it all
started 24 years ago, at 101 Lake Merced Boulevard
in Daly City. The Supporters of Doelger Senior
Center, Inc. and the City Council of Daly City
will host the annual community-wide Fall Festival.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m..
“This annual fall get-together also serves as
a way for the City Council and the Supporters
of Doelger Senior Center to show our appreciation
to the seniors in our community, by offering them
the best breakfast deal in town,” remarked Daly
City Mayor Sal Torres.
The pancake breakfast will have two seatings.
The first will start at 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.;
the second is from 10 a.m. to noon. For the late-morning
risers who prefer to skip breakfast, an international
lunch at $5 per plate will be served from 11 a.m.
until 1:30 in the afternoon.
From noon until 2 p.m., live entertainment, which
includes the San Mateo Elks Band, will be provided
throughout the afternoon. A hat fashion show,
class demonstrations, ukulele selections, Polynesian
and tap dances, and singing with Judy Miller are
all in the day’s program. If you have a sweet
tooth, a bake sale will take place in the Deli.
For lovers of fine art, there will be a painting
exhibit, and for green thumbs, a plant sale. For
sale on the patio area will be ceramics.
A raffle, with a top prize of $500, is scheduled
at the end of the day. The tickets are being sold
for $1 each. The lucky ticket holders have a chance
to win a color TV, four box seat tickets to the
Grand National Rodeo, and other prizes.
Transportation will be provided to and from Westlake
Park at various locations throughout Daly City.
