Step 7: City Council Meeting
(Time estimate: Three Weeks)
A. Once the Planning Commission has voted on a project recommendation to the City Council, a public meeting will be scheduled for the City Council to formally consider your project. As with the Planning Commission, prior to the meeting, every property owner within 300 feet of the boundaries of your property is notified by mail that they are invited to attend the meeting to listen or to make comments on the project for consideration by the Council.
B. The City Council, consisting of five elected officials, meets on the second and fourth Mondays of every month at 7:00 PM in the Daly City Council Chambers, City Hall, 333-90th Street in Daly City.
C. The Planning Commission's recommendation is submitted to the Council and the project applicant in report from in advance of the meeting. At the meeting, the staff planner will provide the City Council with a brief oral presentation of your project and conclude with a recommendation on approval or denial of the application by the Planning Commission. It is customary for the Council members to ask questions of the project planner and the applicant to clarify any concerns they may have. The Mayor will also open the meeting to take public comments on the proposal.
D. Once the City Council has considered all the information presented, a vote will be taken on the project. A majority vote is required for a project recommendation to be approved or denied. The City Council has final approval or denial authority on all development proposals in Daly City.
