Officer Patrick Hensley has been a member of the Daly City Police Department since 1994, where he began his career as a patrol officer. In 1996, he began a two year assignment with the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force as a Special Agent. Following that assignment, Officer Hensley returned to the Patrol Division where he served as a Field Training Officer.  

Officer Patrick Hensley was promoted to the rank of sergeant in August of 2002. During his five years as a sergeant, he was assigned to both the Patrol Division and the Training and Recruiting Unit. His responsibilities in the Training Unit included the hiring of all Department Personnel, and managing the Field Training Program.

In 2007, Sergeant Hensley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division as a Watch Commander. In 2010, Lieutenant Hensley was assigned Commander of the Investigations Division. His responsibilities included the supervision of all detectives, and management of all investigations. This included long term multi-jurisdictional investigations with our state and federal law enforcement partners.

In April 2012, Lieutenant Hensley was assigned as the Acting Captain in charge of the Operations Support Bureau. This includes the Investigations Division, Technical Services Division, Records Division, Communications Unit, Community Policing Unit, Property Unit, and the Training Unit. In August 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Hensley served as the Operations Support Bureau Commander until March 2014. He currently is the Field Operations Bureau Commander.

Captain Hensley holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services Administration from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. He is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, and the L.A.P.D. Leadership Academy.
