14th ANNUAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY CELEBRATION

On Saturday, October 27, 2012, Daly City celebrates its 14th consecutive year of participation in Make a Difference Day, the National Day of Volunteerism. Volunteers are needed for several community projects.  All volunteers are invited to the 12:00 noon post-event barbecue at the City Hall Plaza and Rose Garden.  The barbecue lunch is sponsored by the Daly City Host Lions Club.

It is easy to be part of Make a Difference Day. Join us by completing the sign-up information below and selecting the project you would like to support (if you cannot register at the City’s website, please call or send an e-mail to sign-up). Please also print out and sign the release form below. E-mail the release for as an attachement or bring the release form with you to your project site. All minors under 18 years of age must have this form signed by a parent/legal guardian.

BAYSHORE NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP
Volunteers meet at the Bayshore Community Center entrance, 450 Martin Street at 8:45 a.m.  Volunteers will work in teams to collect litter and recyclables in the Bayshore neighborhood.

REUSE EXCHANGE (COLLECTION AND FREE DISTRIBUTION OF NEW AND GENTLY USED ITEMS)
Volunteers meet at Civic Center North, 350 90th Street, 3rd Floor at 8:45 a.m.  Volunteers are needed to organize and display merchandise, and assist patrons.

DOELGER ART CENTER CLEAN-UP/PLANTING/PAINTING
Volunteers meet at the Doelger Art Center, 200 Northgate Avenue at 9:00 a.m.  Volunteers will work in teams to remove debris, paint out graffiti, and plant vegetation.  Bring gloves if you have them!

GELLERT PARK CLEAN-UP
Volunteers meet at the Gellert Park Clubhouse, 50 Wembley Drive, Daly City.  Volunteers will clean the park and remove dead vegetation and debris from the park's perimeter hillsides.  Volunteers should be physically fit and capable of moderate lifting. 

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP - WESTMOOR AVENUE/SKYLINE DRIVE/SOUTH MAYFAIR AVENUE
Volunteers meet at the southeast corner of Skyline Drive and Westmoor Avenue.  Volunteers will pick-up litter in the neighborhood surrounding Skyline Plaza Shopping Center. 

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP - MISSION STREET
Volunteers meet in front of the War Memorial Community Center, 6655 Mission Street.  Volunteers will pick-up litter in Daly City's Top of the Hill district.  
 
FOOD DRIVE - NO VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED
We are asking that each volunteer bring a non-perishable food item to place in the Food Drop-Off Barrels to benefit the
North Peninsula Food Pantry and Dining Center of Daly City.
Food Drop-Off Barrels Located at the following locations:
Gellert Clubhouse, 40 Wembley Drive, 
Bayshore Community Center, 450 Martin Street, and
City Hall Main Parking Lot and City Hall Rose Garden, 333 90th Street.
