18th ANNUAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY CELEBRATION

On Saturday, October 22, 2016, Daly City celebrates its 18th consecutive year of participation in Make a Difference Day, a National Day of Volunteerism. Daly City residents are asked to “Make a Difference” by volunteering or participating in a number of events. All volunteers are invited to attend the post-event lunch at 12:00 noon at the City Hall Plaza and Rose Garden. The lunch is sponsored by the Daly City Host Lions Club.

Free Document Shredding Drop-off
Gather up personal and financial documents for free shredding. This protects you and also produces recycled materials. Bring them to City Hall, located at 333 90th Street, time TBD (most likely in the morning).
Free E-Waste Drop-off
Don't throw your old electronics into the trash, safely dispose of them at Make A Difference Day. Bring them to City Hall, located at 333 90th Street, time TBD (most likely in the morning).
Free Reuse Exchange
The City invites the community to donate gently used items at the Community Services Center located at Civic Center North, 350 90th Street, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Donations are accepted until Friday, October 21. Click here for a list of items needed. For questions about what items to donate, please call the Community Service Center at (650) 991-8007.
Hands-on projects that are in need of volunteer help include:
Mussel Rock Coastal Clean-up - Volunteers will meet in front of the Transfer Station, at 120 Westline Dr., 9:00-11:00 am, to collect litter and recyclables.
Mission Street-Top of the Hill Clean-up - Volunteers will meet at Bepler and Mission Street to collect litter and recyclables from 10:00am-12:00pm. During the event parking is available at the municipal parking lots on Bepler.
Rain Garden at Mission & Bepler - Help plant the rain garden site; all trees/plants, materials, and supplies are provided. Come ready to do some light physical work from 10:30 am-12:00 pm. Parking available at the municipal parking lots at Bepler.
Southern Hills Neighborhood Clean-up – Volunteers will meet at Panorama Elementary School, at 25 Bellevue Ave., 9:00 am-11:30 am, to collect litter and recyclables.
Gellert Park & Serramonte Library Clean-up – Volunteers will meet at the Serramonte Library at 40 Wembley Drive, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, to collect litter and recyclables.
All volunteers must complete a release form prior to beginning any work activity associated with Make A Difference Day. Volunteers under 18 years of age must submit a release form with the signature of the parent/guardian. Click here to download the volunteer release form.
