Early Childhood Literacy and Learning

ABCMouse (for children ages 2 to 8) is a colorful interactive learning resource with curriculum covering reading, phonics, sight words, math, art geography, music, and much more. Lessons and activities are available in Spanish as well. Lessons are tailored to specific ages and feature an adorable mouse and his friends.  You can check out an ABCMouse license for four weeks with your library card.  Go to to set up your account (choose your library from the list).  Please note that if you would like to use the app on a phone or tablet, you need to first set up your account via the web link.   Integrated parent/caregiver tools let you measure and track your child’s progress.

TeachingBooks offers a set of resources for children's and young adult books and their authors and illustrators to engage children and teens the includes short movies, audio book readings, book discussion guides, and more. Biography Reference Bank offers the in-depth profiles from Current Biography and World Authors, the periodical coverage of Biography Index, and the specialist content of Junior Authors & Illustrators.

Biography Reference Center provides thousands of reliable full-text biographies, including the complete full text of Biography Today and Biography, plus narrative biographies not available in other databases.

Britannica School is The Encyclopædia Britannica for students. It is also available in Spanish.

History Reference Center is a full-text database featuring historical reference books, magazines, journals and thousands of primary source documents.

Literary Reference Center Plus provides the most relevant information on thousands of authors and their works across literary disciplines and timeframes.

MAS Complete​ is a full-text database providing hundreds of popular high school magazines and reference books. Covering subjects such as art, history, sports, and music, it also includes thousands of biographies and primary source documents, plus over a million photos, maps, and flags.

Middle Search Plus is a full-text database providing popular middle school magazines and reference books. Covering subjects such as history, current events, science and sports, it also includes thousands of biographies and primary source documents, plus over a million photos, maps and flags.

Newspaper Source Plus provides cover-to-cover full text for hundreds of national, international, and regional newspapers. In addition, it offers television and radio news transcripts from major networks. 

Points of View Reference Center provides rich content that can help students assess and develop persuasive arguments and essays, better understand controversial issues, and develop analytical thinking skills.

Primary Search is a full-text database providing popular children’s magazines, easy-to-read encyclopedic entries and a vast image collection. Students can learn about a variety of topics, including endangered species, famous musicians, fitness and space exploration.

Science Reference Center contains full text for hundreds of science magazines, journals, encyclopedias, reference books, and a vast collection of images

TOPICSearch explores current events, social, political and economic issues, scientific discoveries, and other popular topics frequently discussed in the classroom.

eBooks for Kids and Teens

TumbleBookLibrary (K-6), TumbleMath (K-6, math-focused), and TeenBookCloud (7-12 grade) are collections of eBooks with animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Quizzes and lesson plans are included to support learning from home.  TumbleBooks has generously provided free access through August 31.

Overdrive for Kids is a special collection of fiction and nonfiction eBooks for kids.

Overdrive for Teens is a special collection of eBooks for young adults.


RBdigital eMagazines offers complete digital editions of over 200 magazines, including National Geographic, Newsweek, Smithsonian, Highlights, Cricket, Cobblestone and American Girl.  Check out as many magazines as you want; once you download the title, it stays on your device until you delete it.

Streaming Video

Kanopy is an on-demand streaming video platform that offers viewers a large collection of award-winning films and documentaries.  Kanopy Kids is a collection of movies and shows for kids available in public libraries only.
