FAQ

How long will the library be closed?

Per the Shelter in Place Order, the Library will be closed at least through May 3. We will continually reassess and update when we have a date set for reopening.

What if my items are due during the closure?

We have extended the due date for all Daly City Library materials that were due while we are closed to June 30, 2020. Due dates for items from other PLS libraries have also been extended until after we reopen.

Can I drop off my materials in outdoor bookdrops?

The bookdrop at the Serramonte Main is currently open and available for return of library materials; bookdrops at the other Libraries are closed due to their limited capacity.  When check-ins resume, all item check-ins will be back-dated to March 13, 2020.  We ask that if you can wait to return materials, you hold onto them until we reopen so our bookdrop is not overwhelmed.

What if some of my holds are ready for pick up?

We will extend the period that all items remain on hold so that you have plenty of time to pick them up after we reopen. Please disregard the Pick-Up By Date listed in your holds notice.

My library card is about to expire. How can I renew it?

Library cards that were set to expire soon have been extended to June 30, 2020.  If you experience issues using your card, please e-mail dcplref@plsinfo.org with a description of the problem and your card number, name, address, and telephone number.

What library resources can I access while the library is closed?

The Library’s online offerings include eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies, research databases and digital magazines and newspapers.  These are all available 24/7 to library card holders while we are closed.  For a complete list, visit our eLibrary.

I don’t have a library card or my card is not working.  Is there anyone who can help me?

You can apply for a card online by filling out this form and instantly receive a temporary seven-digit account number.  This number can be used to access our eBooks and eAudiobooks on Overdrive.  If you would like to access other online offerings, please forward the confirmation e-mail your received when applying to dcplref@plsinfo.org and ask for a regular fourteen-digit card number.

I have a question. Is there anyone who can help me?

If you have any questions about your account or how to access digital resources, please email dcplref@plsinfo.org. We will respond to inquiries as soon as possible.  If you do not have access to e-mail, you can also reach staff by phone at 650-260-8540.
