Resources and Referrals for Mortgage Delinquency and Foreclosure Counseling

Daly City has one of the higher foreclosure rates in San Mateo County.  Below is a listing of resources to learn more about the foreclosure process and to find referrals for foreclosure prevention counseling.

 

For Homeowners –

°          http://www.hopenow.com   This is an alliance between HUD approved housing counselors, servicers, investors, and other mortgage market participants.  This alliance maximizes outreach efforts to homeowners in distress to help them stay in their homes.   You may also call 1-888-995-HOPE (4673), a 24-hour hotline.

°          https://www.housingeducation.org  The Housing Education Program, a division of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Francisco, is a HUD approved housing counseling agency. It provides education to meet the challenges of homeownership.  1-800-777-7256.

°          http://www.heraca.org  Housing and Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) provides assistance in areas of predatory or unfair mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention and fair housing.  It holds office hours at the Daly City Community Service by appointment only.  1-510-271-8443.

For Renters - 

°          http://tenantstogether.org  Tenants Together, California’s Statewide Organization for Renter’s Rights, provides information to tenants living in homes that are facing foreclosure.  It has a tenant foreclosure hotline:  1-888-495-8020

°          www.legalaidsmc.org  Legal Aid of San Mateo County assists low income tenants who are having problems with their landlord.  It holds office hours at the Daly City Community Center by appointment only.  650-558-0915.
