Plumbing Permit Fee Schedule

(Effective October 24, 2008)


Amends Chapter 1, entitled Administration, Section 103.4, of the 2007 California Plumbing Code, provided for the collection of fees.  
For the issuance of each permit
1. Residential additions and alterations (per square foot)


2. New residential or multifamily residential buildings (per square foot)
For issuing each supplemental permit


For each plumbing fixture or trap or set of fixtures on one trap (including, water, drainage, piping and backflow protection therefor)
Rainwater systems - per drain
For each private sewage pump system
For each water heater and/or vent
For each gas piping system of one (1) to four (4) outlets
For each gas piping system of five (5) or more, per outlet
For each industrial waste pre-treatment interceptor, including its trap and vent, excepting kitchen type grease interceptors functioning as fixture traps
For installation, alteration or repair of water piping and/or water treating equipment
For repair or alteration of drainage or vent piping
For each lawn sprinkler system on any one meter, including backflow protection devices therefore
For vacuum breakers or backflow protective devices on tanks, vats, etc. or for installation on unprotected plumbing fixtures, including necessary water piping  

One (1) to four (4)


Five (5) or more EACH

All swimming pools
Permit fee for each graywater system
Permit fee for each medical gas piping system serving one to five inlet(s)/outlet(s) for a specific gas
Permit fee for each additional medical gas inlet(s)/outlet(s)
Inspection outside of normal business hours
(Minimum Charge - one hour).
Inspection for which no fee is specifically indicated
(Minimum Charge - one hour).
A reinspection fee shall be assessed for each inspection or reinspection when such portion of work for which inspection is called is not complete or when corrections called for are not made (Minimum Charge - one hour).


The fee is to be charged at the rate of 5% of the plumbing permit fee. For permits under $67.85 the minimum fee will be $3.40.


Whenever any work has commenced for which a permit is required without first having obtained said permit; a special investigation shall be made before a permit may be issued for such work.

An investigation fee, in addition to the permit fee, shall be collected whether or not a permit is then or subsequently issued.

1st time offenders - established minimum Code Enforcement Fee.

2nd time offenders - three times the amount of the permit fee or established minimum Code Enforcement Fee whichever is greater.

3 or more times offenders - ten times the amount of the permit fee.

The payment of such investigation fee shall not exempt any person from compliance with all other provisions of this code nor from any penalty prescribed by law.

This provision shall not apply to emergency work when it shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Authorized Representative that such work was urgently necessary.


The Authorized Representative may authorize the refund of any permit fee paid when no work has been done under a permit issued in accordance with this code, or for a permit, which has been paid and is withdrawn or cancelled. The refund shall be the amount paid less $75.
