Should The Water Go?
cleaning during dry weather months is a common practice,
but careful thought must be given to where the dirty
washwater goes! Too often, washwater flows into the
street gutters and storm drains. Water that enters
the street and storm drains flows directly to the
Bay and the Ocean without treatment of any kind. Washwaters
carry pollutants such as soaps and detergents, degreasers,
oils and greases, automotive fluids, metallic brake
pad dust, litter and other debris to our waterways,
harming fish and other wildlife.
You can help by requesting free guidelines on proper
washwater and HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL, including soaps,
detergents, cleaning chemicals, surface cleaning, and
washwater containing pet flea dip products.
