Completion of New Westlake Mural

Daly City – The completion of the Westlake mural, located adjacent to the Westlake District northbound exit off of Interstate 280, will be celebrated on site starting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2004. Daly City’s Mayor and City Council will lead the ceremonies, and will be joined by representatives from CalTrans, Dunn-Edwards Paints and other city departments.

The $500,000 project was partially funded by CalTrans. In addition to the mural, it included several landscape and traffic-related improvements along Junipero Serra Boulevard, adjacent to the freeway exit.

The new mural reads “Daly City: Gateway to the Peninsula.” The design captures the city’s hilly terrain and coastline at sunset.

Callendar Associates of San Mateo was the project architect. J. A. Gonsalves & Son Construction, Inc. of Napa was the general contractor.
