City Hall Displays Jefferson School District’s Youth Art Exhibits

Daly City – Mayor Sal Torres will officially proclaim May 2004 “Youth Art Month” at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the City Hall Gallery. Along with Vice Mayor Carol Klatt, Mayor Torres is expected to make a brief presentation to Fernando Rivera Middle School students and Jefferson School District officials.

“Through meaningful art activities, children develop initiative, self-expression, creative ability, self-evaluation, discipline and a heightened appreciation of beauty,” the mayor proclaimed.

Several entries in this year’s Youth Art Exhibits 2004 are currently on display at city hall until May 13th. A larger collection of the artwork will be shown at Serramonte Shopping Center from May 18 to 31.

The annual event promotes art and encourages creative expression among young students. The Jefferson School District has sponsored the program for 28 years.
