Publisher To Speak on Filipino Pride

Daly City – Mona Lisa Yuchengco, publisher and president of Filipinas Magazine, will be the featured speaker at the Serramonte Library, from 2 to 3 p.m., this Saturday, June 14. One of the highly-profiled Filipino-Americans in the Bay Area, she will speak on “Filipino Pride: Where We Are Now and What We Should Do.”

Filipinas Magazine is a monthly publication distributed in North America, with readership over 100,000, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation. Aside from being the magazine’s founder, Yuchengco is also affiliated with various organizations, including the Philippine International Aid, a non-profit organization that provides scholarship and other educational assistance to about 500 indigent and disabled children in Manila annually. She is a board member of the University of San Francisco’s Center for Pacific Rim, a founding member of the New California Media, and a member of the President’s Council at Skyline College, Asian American Arts Foundation and Asian Pacific Fund, among others.

“Mona Lisa Yuchengco is a trailblazer who leads a courageous and colorful life. The Daly City community will surely enjoy to have such a respected professional and an inspiring person as its prized speaker this Saturday,” noted Library Director Susanna Gilden.

The lecture is sponsored by the Daly City Public Library, in affiliation with the Philippine Association of University Women – USA (PAUW-USA).
