Daly City - The grand opening of the newly built $2.2 million Lincoln Community Center at Lincoln Park will be held this Saturday, August 23, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 901 Brunswick Street, near Acton, in Daly City.

City officials, community leaders and families from the surrounding Crocker neighborhood are expected to be in attendance to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony, slated around 11:15 a.m.

“For over 40 years, the old Lincoln Park Clubhouse bore witness to many memorable events in the community. Undoubtedly, the new facility will become a popular venue as well. From wedding receptions to baby showers, classes and public meetings, reunions and anniversaries, the new multi-purpose structure is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood,” commented Mayor Adrienne Tissier.

The new Lincoln Community Center is a 6,800 square foot single story building. It is one of the four community centers included in Daly City’s $45 million, five-year capital improvements program. Serving as the facility’s centerpiece is the 3,000 square foot, multi-use room where ballroom dancing, meetings, private parties and various events will be held. Two classrooms, seven computer workstations with internet access, and a catering-friendly and teaching kitchen will add to the popularity of the new community center. The newly constructed 20-space parking lot, located on the exact spot where the old building used to be, is a convenient feature for visitors.

EKONA Architecture was the Lincoln Community Center project’s designer. The general contractor is Tinney Construction Corp. of Redwood City.

Refreshments will be served at Saturday’s celebration. The public is invited. For facility rental information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (650) 991-8001.
