Event To Include Book Signing By The San Francisco Writer

Daly City - She was one of 10 children, from a financially-strapped family, but her mother's unique talent and tireless efforts of winning one contest after another transformed their lives. San Francisco writer Terry Ryan wrote about the poignant true-to-life story of her mom's prize-winning ways, and became a real-life winner herself.

Ryan will be the featured guest speaker at the Friends of Daly City Library's annual luncheon on Saturday, September 29. The author will read an excerpt from her best-selling book, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 kids on 25 words or less. Ryan will also sign purchased copies of her book at the event.

"Daly City is most fortunate to have someone of Terry's caliber supporting a local program. Her experiences will surely be inspiring. We look forward to meeting her, and sharing her with the community," said Library Director Susanna Gilden.

The luncheon, which is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m., will be held at the Elks Lodge, at 920 Stonegate Drive (off Hillside Blvd.), South San Francisco. Proceeds will go towards enhancing Daly City's four branch libraries. To purchase a ticket (at $20 each), call (650) 755-7188.
