Fireworks are Prohibited

For many, the 4th of July isn’t a celebration unless there are fireworks. However, due to the serious health and safety risks that fireworks pose to our residents, Daly City prohibits fireworks. The City urges residents to obey the law.

The Police Department has planned for special enforcement in certain areas of the City that has been known to experience firework activity in the past such as Mussel Rock Open Space Preserve. If residents see the use of fireworks and can identify the exact location please call the Police at 9-1-1. Although calls for service are prioritized, officers will make every effort to respond.

The North County Fire Authority (NCFA), which serves Brisbane, Daly City and Pacifica, will increase staffing on the July 4th holiday in preparation of potential emergencies during the celebrations. NCFA asks for the public’s assistance in avoiding the use of illegal fireworks, which can cause fires (which may be especially more prone during this drought), injury or even death and may exceed or overwhelm emergency response resources.

Residents who wish to use fireworks legally may visit neighboring communities that allow fireworks including the cities of Pacifica and San Bruno. In addition, there are a number of fireworks displays around the Bay Area including: San Francisco, Foster City, and Redwood City, just to name a few.

Please make this Independence Day a safe holiday.
