Daly City’s Filipino-American History Month Celebration Set for Saturday, October 14

Daly City has teamed up with the Filipino Channel (TFC) to host this year’s Filipino-American History Month Celebration to be held this Saturday, March 14, at Marchbank Park.  The festival is scheduled to kick-off at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 3:00 p.m.  Admission to the event is free and limited parking is available at the southern parking structure at DC Station, 2001 Junipero Serra Blvd., Daly City.  Marchbank Park is a short walk from the Daly City BART station and is accessible by SamTrans 110, 120, 121, and 130 bus routes.  The event is entirely outdoors and air quality may be unhealthy for some individuals.  Children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, emphysema and heart disease are most affected by particulate matter in the air.  Please be safe!  Wear an N95 rated mask if you have one.

The celebration at Marchbank Park will feature entertainment, arts and crafts, food, and a beer garden.  TFC’s Adobo Nation cast members Tet Hernandez, Katrina Dimaranan, Hannah Tolentino, and Lee Robin Salazar, will host a special hour of entertainment from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. with headliners Drop N Harmony.  Drop N Harmony emerged in the late 1990s as one of the pioneer Filipino-American pop groups on the independent music scene.  Other featured performers scheduled through the day include Maddie B., Melvinsings!, Mike Dayao, Jeremy Passion, Mistah B and Gelson, and the Little Manila Dance Collective.

Festival goers will have an assortment of food options to satisfy their hunger.  This year’s event includes popular food trucks Jeepsilog, Da Poke Man, Hula Truck, and Masarap, along with Bliss Pops, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Bread Basket Bakery.  Berkeley’s Gilman Brewing Company will be the star attraction in the beer garden where friends of the Daly City Baseball Association will be pouring to raise funds in support of youth baseball.

More than 50 vendors will be represented at the Fil-Am History Month Celebration.  Join the Daly City Filipino-American community in celebrating the music, dance, cuisine, and culture of the Philippines.
