Free Document Shredding Event at City Hall, Saturday, October 22

The City of Daly City is hosting a FREE document shredding event on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the main parking lot at City Hall, 333 90th Street. This annual event is held in conjunction with Make a Difference Day, the national day of doing good. Daly City residents may bring up to three full banker’s boxes (or roughly 100 pounds) of paper to be securely shredded while they wait. A mobile shredder is being provided by Cintas Document Management of Oakland.

Shredding documents that contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers or banking records, is a prudent practice to prevent personal information from being stolen. People fearful of identity theft often stockpile personal documents at home, even when the records are no longer needed. Daly City’s annual community document shredding day presents an excellent opportunity for residents to shred boxes of documents at once – quickly and at no cost.
