Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection at City Hall, Saturday, June 14

Residents looking for a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste are encouraged to make an appointment for a special collection in Daly City on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the main parking lot at City Hall, 333 90th Street, near the intersection of Sullivan Avenue. Appointments are available in 15-minute increments throughout the morning and may be made online at

The service is free and available to all San Mateo County residents. Typical household hazardous waste items include paint, solvents, insecticides and herbicides, antifreeze and other automotive products, pool chemicals, fluorescent lights (tubes and compact fluorescent “twisty” bulbs) and personal care products. Materials that will NOT be accepted include electronic waste (televisions, computers, and cell phones), asbestos, and explosives.

Unwanted, clearly labled latex paint may be recycled at Dunn Edwards Paints at 2201 Junipero Serra Blvd. in Daly City.  Dunn Edwards serves as a collection center under the PaintCare California Program.  PaintCare is an industry sponsored paint stewardship non-profit program established to manage the reuse, recycling and proper disposal of unused architectural paint.  Dunn Edwards does not accept leaking or unlabeled paint containers or aerosol paint cans.  Call Dunn Edwards during normal business hours at (650) 992-9660 for more information.
