Daly City Set to Celebrate Black History Month Saturday, February 5

Daly City will commemorate Black History Month at the Parks and Recreation Department’s 19th Annual Black History Festival Celebration on Saturday, February 5, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pacelli Event Center, 145 Lake Merced Blvd., Daly City. The Black History Month Celebration presents the community with an opportunity to observe Black History Month and to honor the achievements of African Americans. Additionally, the celebration will showcase cultural dance, crafts, art, food, literature and entertainment.

Hosted by Clifford Brown Jr. -- Bay Area Award-Winning Radio Personality Clifford Brown., Jr.  He currently serves as Program Director of KDYA, Operations Manager of KDIA and also host “Midday Jazz” for KCSM 91 FM.  Mr. Brown also is a winner of the Golden Mic Award as Northern California’s top radio personality.  Daly City is proud to have Mr. Clifford Brown, Jr. join us as our host for our 19th Annual Black History Month Celebration event.

This year the Black History Month Celebration’s theme is an “African-infused Music- A Bridge to Intergenerational Unity and Community Empowerment.” Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
