Daly City Services & Garbage Collection During the 2019 Holiday Season

Office Closures

In celebration of the 2019 holiday season, Daly City Offices will be closed on:

Tuesday, December 24, 2019 through Wednesday, January 1, 2020, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Daly City Police and Fire Department will remain open throughout the holidays. To report an emergency, dial 9‐1‐1. Call (650) 991‐8119 to report non‐emergencies to the Daly City Police Department.

The Daly City Water & Wastewater Resources Department will remain open throughout the holidays. To report an emergency, dial (650) 991‐8200.

Street Sweeping

Street sweeping is suspended on the following dates:

Tuesday, December 24, 2019 through Wednesday, January 1, 2020

Street sweeping will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2020

Police Parking Enforcement

The Police Department will suspend street sweeping parking enforcement on:

Tuesday, December 24, 2019 through Wednesday, January 1, 2020

However, all other parking enforcement activities, such as parking meter enforcement, will continue to be provided.

Garbage & Recycling Collection

Republic Services has modified their schedule as follows:

Customers with Monday collection days are unaffected by the holidays.

Customers with Tuesday collection days are unaffected by the holidays.

For Wednesday collection days, Republic Services will collect on Thursday, December 26, 2019 and January 2, 2020.

For Thursday collection days, Republic Services will collect on Friday, December 27, 2019 and January 3, 2020.

For Friday collection days, Republic Services will collect on Saturday, December 28, 2019 and January 4, 2020.

Republic’s offices will be open during the holidays, except they will be closed starting at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and all day on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. For more information, contact Republic’s Customer Service at (650) 756‐1130 or at www.republicservicesdalycity.com.

Holiday tree collection will occur on your regular collection days from December 26, 2019 through January 24, 2020. Before placing trees out for recycling, remember to:

  • Remove stands, lights, tinsel, ornaments and other decorations.
  • Cut trees into 6-foot lengths. 
  • Place trees at the curb, next to your green Compost cart.
  • Flocked trees will be collected but not recycled. 
  • Multi‐family residents should contact their property manager for more information regarding disposal or call Customer Service to arrange for pickup.
  • After January 24, 2020, trees must be cut to fit completely inside your green Compost cart.or call Republic Service's Customer Service at (650) 756-1130 to arrange for pickup.

Here are a few reminders of what can go inside your green Compost cart during the holidays:

  • Natural wreaths, garland, holly & mistletoe - remove wireframes, hangers, wires and decorations first and place them in your garbage if they can't be saved and reused for next year. 
  • Poinsettias & other plants - remove pots first and any ribbons or other decorations. 
  • Wooden tree stands - remove plastic buckets and nails.
