Free Shuttle Service for Daly City's Bayshore Neighborhood Unanimously Approved

Funding for a free shuttle service, providing vital east-west connections to supermarkets, health facilities and neighborhood centers in Daly City’s Bayshore community, was unanimously approved Monday, December 9, by the Daly City Council.  The shuttle will be operated in partnership with the San Mateo County Transportation Authority.  Click here to download a route map and timetable (PDF).

The shuttle service will launch on January 6, with funding for the shuttle coming from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), through the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG).

“In partnership with our local residents, Daly City and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority collaborated to create a critically needed transportation link, bringing neighborhoods that were once isolated closer to medical and nutrition services, shopping, jobs and connections to other nearby transit alternatives,” said Daly City Mayor and TA Director David Canepa. “I’m extremely proud of the effort that led to this new community resource.”

Leaders from the Transportation Authority and Daly City will hold a ribbon-cutting event in January at the Bayshore Community Center, one of the many sites in Daly City that will be served by the new shuttle.

The new route was developed with the participation of the community through a series of planning meetings that looked at transportation issues and considered proposed solutions.  This shuttle is the product of that community-based planning process.

The ribbon-cutting event is open to the public and will be held at 11 a.m., January 6, 2014 at the Bayshore Community Center, located at 450 Martin Street in Daly City.
