Daly City will host its 9th Annual National Women’s History Month celebration on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at City Hall, 333 90th Street. Nominations to recognize women who have shown leadership in promoting education, courage, and commitment in pursuit of justice, equality, and freedom, are open now through February 21, 2014. The theme of National Women’s History Month is “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.” Betty Ann Boeving, Founder and Executive President of the Bay Area Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition, is the keynote speaker. There is no charge and no pre-registration required for this event. Check-in and networking begins at 5:00 p.m., with the program and awards ceremony scheduled from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. A reception will follow the program.
Awards will be presented in six categories: Young Women of Promise (14-21 years old); Woman of Excellence (21 years old and up); Unsung Hero; and Honorary Historical Award (posthumous), Career Achievement and Special Recognition. The 2014 nominees and winners will be honored at the reception, which will feature live music and appetizers.
